For us, from them.

Latrines. Toilet.Basic sanitation. Or As we like to call it, in the civilized way “Washroom”. A basic amenity of life awarded to all in this modern world. Or so I had thought.  For it does not take a lot to make one. A small enclosure, some basic plumbing and voila, a basic latrine is ready. No longer will the women of your household have to defecate in the open at the price of public shame and insecurity. No longer will they be and other members of the house be exposed to diseases due to the unsanitary conditions.NO longer will anybody have to make long arduous treks into the wild.  Seems just the right thing to do? Right?

Yes it does. But what do you do when the money you earn is barely sufficient to feed you .What do you do when the choice is between necessities like food-clothing and a basic amenity like sanitation. In these conditions sanitation becomes a luxury. And it is this story that I have brought to you. Story of Manimegalai, Amirdham, Amudha, Chellam, and Alamelu. 5 women who have taken it upon themselves to bring water supply and sanitation closer to their home.

A brief introduction from the milaap webpage “Manimegalai, Amirdham, Amudha, Chellam, and Alamelu live in the rural area of Musiri in the Tiruchirapalli district of Tamil Nadu. They are agricultural laborers who work hard to supplement the incomes their husbands bring in, and to provide a decent future for their children. The area they live in has a water supply located about 1000 meters from their homes, and the closest public latrine is 500 meters away. As a result, clean and fresh water is scarce, and they have to depend on the surrounding shrubbery or the darkness at night for privacy to relieve themselves in unhygienic conditions. Consequently, they are subject to illnesses multiple times a year, and the monthly medical bills eat into their meager savings. They seek a loan of Rs.30,000, payable over 18 months, to build a toilet for Manimegalai’s family, and to install water connections for the rest of the group’s homes. This loan will allow their families access to the dignity and basic necessity of sanitation and water in their homes.”

I have taken up this project not only because I believe basic sanitation is a basic amenity everybody should be provided. But also because, I believe we could complete this project that isRaise enough fund for these women to have a toilet that would give them respect, security, and  health. A lot of things from simple toilet.
How can it happen? The reach of my blog is 1000 odd people. Over 200 of them women. If we can donate 500 each, We will complete this loan. We will help make a tangible difference in the lives of these women. I am making it personal, I am making it about what YOU can do. You, right there, reading this blog. It would be just a missed dinner outing to you, but would mean the world to these women. For women everywhere, from us for them.

To donate go on to this page : http://milaap.org/fund/manimegalai-and-group/1997?&referrer_id=9350

From us, for them.

Trip to Dehradun

Hello folks. I'm back with a traveling post this time. I was just flipping through my photos and suddenly I remembered my younger cousin sisters who live in Dehradun. I know this post is bit late but as it is said "It's better to be late than never". Just after my birthday I happened to visit Dehradun in December 2012. I travelled all alone for the first time. Yes, ALL ALONE! ;)

I have been to Dehradun twice before but this trip was a memorable one for me as I could explore the city well and in the mean time I had spend my NEW YEAR up there in the hills with my little cousins! I caught my train from Delhi and imagine my situation that my seat was not confirmed and on the top of it travelling alone. Moreover, a generous handsome man gave his seat to me. I couldn't thank him enough. I made friends too en route. Reached at night around 9.30pm and was picked up by my relatives there. It was too cold, I remember I wore 2 jackets and 3 pairs of socks (I'm not kidding!) and was still FREEZING!!

DAY 1 : Anyways the next day, all refreshed up. I visited the famous SAI TEMPLE with my cousins. It was so divine believe me, I was all calm and relaxed.

The Main Hall

The Palki
The Wishing Tree

After that it started raining heavily so we had no choice just to stay indoors as it was winters. We started clicking indoors itself. It was fun being with my lil cousins. We were meeting almost after a year so there was lot to chit chat and all that girly stuff. OK let me share few pics of my cousins with you all.

The youngest of all

Sibling Love
P.S. : No photo is edited! You could guess by looking at our faces how cold it was!

DAY 2 : The next day weather was amazing so we thought to go a bit far off temple which was BUDDHA TEMPLE in Clement Town. It was bit far off from my place where I was staying. This was one kind of temple I would have never imagined. It was awestruck by its beauty. I loved visiting this one. If you ever go Dehradun please don't miss it for sure. It's a must see temple!
The highest statue of Buddha

The ground floor area

For the shutterbugs!

The view from the top floor. It was just amazing!

I thoroughly enjoyed going there. It has such a beautiful lawn just outside the temple.

The beautiful lawns

If you miss this beauty, your trip is incomplete to Dehradun for sure. Almost whole day was spent here as I had other relatives and friends to catch up with. Amazing day it was, all thanks to this masterpeice.

DAY 3 & 4 : This day was booked by the relatives for lunch and dinners. Now it was the New Year Night and also the birthday of the sister. What a co-incidence no ? It was double celebration for us New Year and birthday! And it was my first New Year there. Have lot of pics to share but would share sometime soon.

Surprised her with the cake!
The celebrations went on full night. We all didn't get the time to sleep. Next morning too we all partied hard like crazies all friends, relatives, neighbors, it was so much fun I tell you. At night we went to Pizza Hut and ended my celebrations there!

You can easily see how tired we all were!
After all these 4 days of grand masti, it was time for me to come to Delhi. Had my train early morning at 5 in these winters. I could just catch up the train at the neck of time! It was fun. How rapidly these 4 days went away. I still miss every moment of them. Late night talks, new year celebrations, my little cousins cooking for me, blah, blah everything! I miss them so much. Hope to celebrate my New Year this time too with them in the hills.

Signing off for now. Thank you for your patience! xoxox

PRESERVED

We wanted to bury the lie
Like tulips on cold spring days
it thrived well enough in the light
to make a new appearance

Took all the letters we found and
 put them in a jar
with boiling sea water
The salt sealed the writing but
made it less distinct!

Lost In Your World Of Love

The first time I saw you, you invaded my heart.
Your eyes made me lost in you!
Your essence made to forget me the essence of rose,

Your charming voice made me addicted to you !
When you are not around, it feels like
Sun has no light, moon is black.
When you are around, it feels,
Time has ultra supersonic speed.
One hour is like a minute!

Your smile makes me fall in your love with you even more.
When we behave like strangers,
It feels like I am getting crushed by a road-roller.
When you touch, I feel like I am in heaven.

Your feather soft touch makes me feel like I am holding a flower,
Getting addicted to girl, you making me addicted to you!
You are my drug .. and it feels too good to get addicted to you!
You are the air I breathe, you are the life that I live.
You are my whole world ..
You are the music on which my heart beats.
You are my heart's soul.
Me without you is lifeless!
You were in my destiny that is why we met by chance.
Never leave me girl as I am lifeless without you.
You are like a fire burning in my mind.
You are my everything that I have always wanted in my life!
I keep thinking about you 24*7.
 I love you sugar-beer, I love u too much baby ♥ ♥

P.S. : This was sent to me by someone, so thought to share it with you all! Love the simplicity of the language.

Memories

Standing at a corner of the world, I witness the flashes of past memories and the only question that arises in my mind is about how everything completely changed it self. I'm at the same place where I stood last year but with new people and different circumstances. The reality of  life is that no matter how much I try to deny the fact, nothing remains the same with the passage of time. Time is what rules our life and its totally inevitable. Its like I was dreaming for the whole time, when awoke, the harsh reality took over cause the time had already played its game. Its hard to believe how life changed me and my priorities, and I got so involved into it that I don't even have time for those who once ruled my life.

Now, I've realized the importance of my past once it turned into a memory. Frankly, we humans are very insatiable and we're never satisfied with what ever is going on. But once, that phase of life is over, and you look back at it, past seems to be everything I've ever wanted. Everything has changed. Those close ones are like strangers now because someone else took their place, but there are no regrets because that's how it is. At the end of the day, you just stand in the corner, and stare at the whole new world full of memories from the past and there's nothing you can do about it.

"As we turn the pages of time, we discover hidden mysteries and triumphs in each new chapter. -- Flavia"

Do you even gamble with the memories like I do ?

A day off with some colorful imagination !!

It's a Wednesday and a day off for me! I wanted to act all celebrity like and spend it the way they do. Grand breakfast, grander lunch, meet imaginary people, watch a couple of movies and spend the evening sitting by the balcony, giggling away to glory with my girlfriends before finally going to bed early.

My foot. I am no celebrity. I live in a city where Wednesdays are a pain. Because? I get holiday in the middle of the week and thursdays and fridays aren't half as awesome.

The only thing I could afford to do of all them above things was, to watch a decent movie.

I downloaded this movie thrice because it kept boowoo-ing me in the face. My internet felt raped, certainly, but it's very okay. I finally did manage to watch English Vinglish. And, I have nothing to say. I can only sit back and smile :) Watched it? No? Die. Yes? I like you.
My workplace is cool :] Colourful, ancient and talkative!

It's October. And I can feel myself getting all senti already about the year almost coming to an end. Mostly because the year has been a little too much to handle :'] but at the same time I'v met / come across the most awesome people, awesome things have happened to me, I'v spoken my mind out to myself about the bestest things ever, I'v watched the most amazing movies ever, and, my I feel lucky, mostly because my internet has been kind in allowing me to rape it every month by downloading so much. True story.

Simple uncomplicated life.

(Kindly ignore the fact that academically I have grown lazier over the year. That's only between you and me and nobody else.)

Back to my world !! YAY !!

Hello! I'M GOING TO BLOG MORE OFTEN, GUYS! Eh, why do I see frustrated faces?  Yes I remember I have a blog. I am blogging after a year (YES YOU READ RIGHT.. A YEAR!!). Sorry guys have been so much busy with my stuff and all so finally thought to blog today. You guys must jump around the room 'cause yes, I am going to blog more often. :D

Okay, dont jump around. =(

The only problem being, I am having a bit of a straightface phase and therefore might, I repeat, might sound a tad bit too. Long social theory behind it. Sigh.

I am slowly slipping into the no-contact zone. :) Last time I did that, it was merely out of sheer boredom. This time, it's out of fedup-dom. I need to vent it out somewhere, and hence I figured I had to had to blog more often.

Anyway. I'm giving myself a month. I am as puzzled in my head as I sound. I can't think clearly and steadily. I need a brain-wash. You know, like a car-wash? I need to shove a to-do list into my face. I need to sleep and wake up happy. I need to get done with my french classes and probably not meet people for a bit. I have a feeling days are going to be tough.

So, see you guys around more often than more often? :)

I hate to foresee. I hate to foresee horrible things.I like it black or I like white. As long as I am not in the grey area, I like it all.

The Life I'm Living Now :)

"All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players:
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts"

Shakespeare said that...let’s see how it applies in the normal college life...

A normal day in the normal college :p I am in the class, as usual not paying attention and lost in my own world of thoughts and words in a corner scribbling away to glory and half heartedly listening to what our guest faculty has to say.
Someone is playing with her pen, the tic-tac echoing around. There are people playing with their hair, some reading a book, a murmur of silence surrounds the whole classroom.
The backbenchers are as usual sitting behind. Discussing some things (I leave the topic of discussion for the readers to guess, but mind it, it was nowhere near boring). A giggle here, a giggle there, fills the whole back of the classroom.
The geeks a.k.a speckyees (now replaced by lenses) are sitting in front glued to every word he utters, noting down every syllable, every sigh, every a, an ,the, mentioned. The sleepers of the class a.k.a getting –bored-not-interested- are yawning and already half asleep, fighting to keep their eyes open and half of them perched on their neighbour’s shoulders. Suddenly they slip down the shoulder and realise that they are ain class and thus the lost fight to not sleep begins again.
Then there are the second or the third benchers, mediocre writing at times and at times looking bored, basically they are just confused wondering whether to be the geek or the outrageous back bencher. These are also known as the average normal kids. Then there are the male starved females (couldn’t find a better term) , who for today are next to the front benchers, batting their eyelashes , a half smile on their faces, pretending to be glued to every word said, lips tucked behind their teeth , they kind of swooning , as if every word he’s saying is the elixir of life.
Then the usual wannabees, fashionistas, jocks, nerds, all who need no introduction. Then the lovers without whom every class is incomplete. Who may be not sitting very close, are exchanging glances and smiles whose meaning only they know. Exchanging whispers, stares and smiles, oblivious to anything happening, around, just existing for each other. As cheesy as it sounds. It’s completely true.
A joke suddenly cracked bonding the whole class, while it lasts, every one listening to the same thing for a while, forgetting their roles in the class and being just a simple student for once. Well that it.
A subtotal of everyone present.
And then last but not the least “me”. What am I? In which category do I fall into? What am I doing here not concentrating on the lecture and observing the around and writing. Well you could say just a simple crazy foolish intelligent WORDISTA...

The Celebration !!

Some days I'm surprised,
I'm amazed,
When this life,
Shows its beautiful face..

When the raindrops pour down,
And birds sing all around.
Nothing really matters then,
Nothing really puts me down.

Trees appear greener,
Birds fly high in the sky.
It's all a big celebration,
And no one is asking "Why?"

Celebration of the moment,
Celebration of a life,
It's very beautiful,
And we've forgotten, Why?

So enjoy this beauty,
Let it cave over you.
Life is beautiful,
A glimpse it will give you.

Some days I'm surprised,
I'm amazed,
When this life,
Shows its beautiful face...

Smiling "FoReVeR"

Smiling Forever !!!
It's now I realised the heavy words " If you think you can , you can.If you think you can't,you can't"

I am going through this wonderful book by Rhonda Byrne " The Secret " which claims to change our lives.Life has all of a sudden become so easy..All I need to get anything in this Universe is "Think".
The Universe which works like a Genie for us.It says "Your wish is my Command".

So,when I hold on to negative thoughts , the universe conspires to bring all negative circumstances, negative incidents and events in my life.

All we need to do is Imagine ourselves enjoying the things we really desire in our lives !!! Be Grateful towards God for all that you have received than ever complaining about things you do not have.

Its a secret being carried forward since ages. All religious books and Great Legends have tried to explain us this phenomena.

It really works !!! I have tried it myself !!!

God have sent us all to do only what we want to do.There is no blackboard where he wrote "Geetanjali Juneja would be Blogging "It is me who thought and it became a Reality.

Its amazing to feel yourself like a Magnet which attracts what you think about the most...You can have anything in this world,All you need to do is Be what you want to be.Visualise ,Create pictures in your mind and the Universe would bring it back to you as you Future pictures.

If you can feel the Positivity in my words,Just go grasp a copy of "The Secrets "or "The monk who sold his Ferrari".

Feel yourself the Creator of you future...Just draw beautiful pictures in your life and see them as Reality.

Let Universe decide HOW ,all you got to do is Think..Think...and Think.....

The world seems to smile with me

You know what i feel , the world seems to be smiling with me when i am happy. The colours  around me look brighter. Folks passing nearby seem to have just arrived from heaven.

It does happen..when we are happy , we do not even need to think about spreading joy and happiness,it becomes a natural flow.

Miracles do happen in our lives daily, all we need to do is notice them.

How can the whole world look such a beautiful place to live in , just cause my heart is smiling..

It isn't that tough a job to make oneself happy and making ourselves happy means we are making the world around us happier.

Such is the grandeur of love , joy ,happiness and bliss..It keeps multiplying...It keeps growing...

Tears Of Pain

Its all in a silent tear....which makes its way down....clenching the heart gripped in pain and unbearable agony...when night comes...and everything is calm..with no one around....it comes out from it hiding place bringing with it the first sense of being alive...it hurts! It hurts damn bad...drowning in the bottomless pit of agony i let my tears purge me...to cleanse my soul of all the wrongs done to me...i swear a thousand promises and a thousand more...but i succumb time after time...despite knowing the fate...and when the tears put up an appearance i know i have failed yet again...hurt increases manifolds and agony rips me apart....silence of the night is punctuated by my muted uncontrollable sobs....a never ending charade it is...tears!tears!tears it is, that makes an outlet of escape....betrayal, misconceptions, desertion all find escape through tears...tears of pain....puffy eyes and soggy pillow sheets..yes these are tears of pain...pain that makes your heart burn with anguish, the numbness that spreads through your veins and the tears that washes all desolation away...

Night after night...i toss and turn....i bury my face into the softness of my pillow and in comfort of my bed....i let the darkness soothe my senses....i let the go of the bottled emotion within me....i allow the memories to resurface..and the pain,flow....then wave after wave....in torrents they come....coursing its way down my face....i clutch my sheets...and let it all go...i let the tears flow....images flash in my eye...words ring in my ears....heart wrenches a notch more...i cling to my sanity....i hold on to the hope...i cry silently...as the pain and hurt overpowers me.....in the darkness of the night my grief finds expression in the tears of pain!

In the light if the day...tears of pain masqueraded in smiles and good cheer...pain is forgotten even if momentarily in chores and errands....laughter drowns the cries within...but when the day runs its course....and the night sets in.....with people turning in...their crawl out from their hiding places...tears of pain...soon the sobs subside...and slumber looms ahead threateningly...tears dry leaving its soggy trails...as a new day dawns...pain lurks into the retreating shadows...as i let myself drift into that sweet haven of respite from this harsh harsh world !!

........Forever

You came in. I wiped off my tears. You saw it all. Still you remained unmoved.Tickets, luggage everything was in place.

With each step, my life was drifting away from me.

Your words flashed across my mind. Those poignant words……“You cannot see my tears. That does not mean I don’t ever cry.”

I turned back, fathomed the depth of your eyes and vowed to be yours…Forever.

Change is the Only Constant

'People change, and forget to tell.'

(This is not a cribbing post but an enlightened one, you may carry on reading!)

Change is the only constant. Weathers change, times change, situations change. Change is the law of nature. Normal is boring. Each one of us needs a change in the course of time. Then why are PEOPLE excepted to not change? They are a portion of this Universe which is meant to change.

The world is like that as they say. One fine day, you wake up and realize that people close to you have changed. They are not as they used to be. It hurts inside. Doesn't it? Is that because of the expectations you have out of them? Probably yes.
Everyday, we meet new people. Life goes on. Some people stay, some leave. Of those, we chose the people who should stay and who should leave. There are times, when people we want to stay, leave. Also, there are times, when people we wanted to leave, stay.
It a circle. its the same for others. Some people want us to stay and some want us to leave. We choose to leave some, we stay with others.
Before you tell someone that they have changed, for one second consider. Question yourself. Are you the same for them? Haven't you changed a bit?

Every one a justification for the change they have brought in themselves. But when it comes to others, it gets in-digestible. Why do we expect others to remain the same for us if we have changed ourselves to them?
Not fair.

When people change, they grow up. They outgrow somethings and develop other things.
You may be a part of their world and may not be. Just like, you leave people behind.
I am not perfect. I hurt people. People hurt me too. But I grow up. Everyone does grow up. This could hurt initially, but we become used to it eventually.

Let people change. It is always for good.

Smile and Move On.

Struggle

You may see me struggle
but you wont see me fall.
Regardless if I'm weak or not I'm going to stand tall.
Everyone says life is easy
but truly living it is not.
times get hard,
people struggle
& constantly get put on the spot.
I'm going to wear the biggest smile
even though I want to cry.
I'm going to fight to live
even though I'm destined to die.
and even though it's hard & I may struggle through it all.
you see me struggle...you will NEVER see me fall.

Live Life To The Fullest

Grow up with challenges
row the boat with practice
what you will get is
the life blossom.
None are the foes, none are the friends
but you are the one who is
either your foe or your friend.
Your goal should be alliteration
as to get the fascination
and the brazen world is your celebration.
Never play the haunting music of
othenticism
as it'll lead to criticism
legacy is all yours, if you live,
the world with opticism

It's a short poem with so much of deep meaning....do read it and let me know the feedback !
Thank you ! :)

Spiritual Education

"What sculpture is to a block of marble, education is to the soul."

In the past educators all over the world have placed tremendous stress on the intellectual & physical development of students. The result is that we have become human beings who are physically and intellectually superior. The amount of knowledge that we are gaining today is doubling at a much faster rate than it did previously. So we find that we have become very materialistic in our approach towsrds life.

To bring about the right kind of balance in the life today our educators need to lay equal emphasis on spiritual aspect of education.

Spirituality deals with developing the higher values of life and becoming a complete person. Spirituality means inculcating love in our heart irrespective of skin color, religion, or nationality.

It is important that spiritual and ethic values are taught properly in the school along with their syllabus. In our school, our teachers had taken a small but strong step to achieve this by introducing students to the process of meditators. Through meditators we not only develop the higher human values but we also realise our true selves and gain knowledge about our spiritual side.

So the true education is the one which develops all the three spheres of human personality i.e. physical, intellectual & spiritual. This will help our students to develop into a complete individual individual, who will always make good decisions that will benefit the entire humanity.

Does The Dream Come True

Standing in the middle of the mountain
up on me is falling snow
river of love is flowing
standing by my side, the women i know
when she holds me in her arms
the sun goes down and the night comes up high
she means so much to me..without her I cant survivie
When i open my eyes, I found myself all alone
scared of the dark and no one to hold

I have a question for you
does the dream come true
breathing in the air of love it feels so pure
see as far as you want to but will not see hate
anymore
tears of blood are not pouring, there is no need to cry
Because no longer fray anymore in which someone
dear can die

No need to close your eyes, no need to close your ears
Everything you don't want to see or hear has been
washed away in the past years
When i open my eyes, i found myself living living in the
world where hate and fray is above faith and love
I have a question for you
Do the dreams come true ?

This is my first poetry...do let me know how is it..
thanx :)
Regards to everyone !
